I am a student staying at the Hampton Inn, how do I connect a WiFi device to the network?


The information contained in this Knowledge Base Article is intended for use by the students staying at the Hampton Inn.

This Knowledge Base Article will provide you with the steps for connecting a WiFi-enabled device (Smart TV, Gaming Console, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Apple HomePod, etc).

Step 1:

  • Locate the MAC Address (Media Access Control) for your device.
    • The MAC address is a 12 digit hexadecimal number that is usually six sets of two digits or characters, separated by colons.
    • An example MAC address would be 00:25:96:AF:GR:49.
  • How do I find the MAC Address for my specific device?
    • The MAC address for your specific may be located in a number of locations, including on the device packaging (generally located next to the UPC, Serial Number, Model Number, etc).
    • Depending on the device, you may be able to find the devices' Mac address in that devices' Settings.
    • We recommend performing a Google Search with the keywords: “How to find MAC Address Wireless console/device name
      • Replace the console/device name with the name of the device you are trying to connect, i.e. Apple TV, XBox Series X, Chrome Cast, PlayStation 5.
      • Example: How to find the MAC Address Wireless Playstation 5.

Step 2:

  • Once you have found the MAC address for the device you would like to register, please complete and submit a Hampton Inn Network Request

Step 3:

Once you have submitted your request and received a confirmation email that your device has been registered, you will want to connect your WiFi device to the hidden Bates SSID/WiFi. Different devices have different ways of connecting to a hidden SSID/WiFi. 

  • We recommend performing a Google Search with the keywords: “How do I connect my device to a hidden SSID/WiFi network?" 
    • Replace the word device, with the actual name of your device (Playstation 5, Microsoft Xbox Series 10, Amazon FireTV, Apple TV, etc).
      • Example: How do I connect my Playstation 5 to a hidden WiFi network?

  • Security: WPA2/WPA3 Personal
  • Password: Bobc@t1855
