Voicemail Basics

Getting Started

1. Dial 6789 (off-campus 207-777-6789)
2. Enter security code - (22837 is the default)
3. Create a new security code (5 to 15 digits)
4. Re-enter the new security code you just created
5. Record your name
6. Record your greeting
7. Enter 9 9 to exit voicemail

This completes the setup procedure.


Retrieving messages (from your office phone)

1. Dial 6789
2. Enter your security code

Voicemail will tell you, "You have xx unread messages and xx saved messages".
Follow the instructions to listen to your messages. After listening to a message the system will automatically mark it to be saved unless you erase it (by pressing 3).

To exit the system, press 9 9.


Retrieving messages (from off-campus)

1. Dial (207) 777-6789
2. Press # [pound] when the system answers
3. Enter your mailbox number (last 4-digits of your phone number)
4. Enter your security code

Voicemail will tell you, "You have xx unread messages and xx saved messages".
Follow the instructions to listen to your messages. After listening to a message the system will automatically mark it to be saved unless you erase it (by pressing 3).

1. Dial 6789
2. Press * # [star, pound] when the system answers
3. Enter your mailbox number (last 4-digits of your phone number)
4. Enter your security code

Voicemail will tell you, "You have xx unread messages and xx saved messages".
Follow the instructions to listen to your messages. After listening to a message the system will automatically mark it to be saved unless you erase it (by pressing 3).

To exit the system press 9 9.


To leave a message without ringing the phone

1. Dial 6789
2. Press * 9 [star, nine] when voicemail answers
3. Dial the extension number of the person to receive the message, plus #


To transfer a caller to someone's voicemail, without ringing the phone

1. Answer the call (obviously)
2. Press the flash/tap/transfer button
3. Dial 6789
4. Press * 9 [star, nine] when voicemail answers
5. Dial the extension number of the person to receive the message, plus #
6. Hang up immediately, so the caller hears the complete greeting


To redirect a caller to someone else for immediate assistance

1. As part of your recorded greeting, instruct the caller to dial * [star] plus the 4-digit extension number of the person to whom you are directing the caller
2. The caller will be transferred to the extension number you have chosen


To return to a caller when you transfer a call to someone, and voicemail answers instead

1. Press * * [star, star]
2. You will be reconnected to the caller automatically

Tips

  • While logged in to voicemail you may obtain help at any time by pressing 0.
  • You may bypass lengthy greetings by pressing # and recording your message.
