At Bates College we don't set a standard for computer model or specifications. However, there are some standard specifications that will likely help your technology purchase last your entire college career.
Hard Drive - A computer with a minimum of a 256 GB solid state hard drive is recommended.
Memory (RAM) - A computer with 8 GB of RAM should be considered a minimum. However, if affordable, 16 GB RAM will provide a better experience.
Camera and Microphone - A computer should have a built-in camera and microphone
Operating System - Either a Windows or Mac Operating System will be functional for students.
