Installing the SecureW2 (eduroam) Certificate on your iOS Device (iPhone/iPad)

SecureW2 is the system Bates College uses to securely configure your macOS device to connect to eduroam, Bates' Wi-Fi network. During setup, SecureW2 automatically applies the necessary Wi-Fi settings and installs a security certificate associated with your Bates account.

Think of this certificate as a digital ID card that allows your macOS device to securely connect to eduroam without requiring you to enter your Bates username and password each time.

Once setup is complete, your macOS device will automatically connect to eduroam whenever you're on campus or visiting another participating institution or location that offers the eduroam Wi-Fi network.

Step 1:

  • On Campus
    • Connect to BatesConnect Wi-Fi.
  • Off Campus
    • Connect to any Internet connection.

Step 2:

  • Open a web browser (Safari is recommended) and go to wifi.bates.edu.
  • Tap Connect to eduroam.

Step 3:

  • Tap on Sign In

Step 4:

  • Enter ​​​​​​your Bates username, then tap Go.

  • Enter your Bates password, then tap Go.

  • If prompted, approve the Duo authentication request to verify your identity and continue.

Step 5:

  • The SecureW2 setup page will automatically detect that you're using an iOS device.
    • If your operating system isn't detected automatically, tap the Select your device drop-down menu and select iPhone/iPad.
  • Tap JoinNow to download the Wi-Fi Profile.

Step 6:

  • Tap Allow.

Step 7:

  • Tap iPhone.

  • Tap Close.

Step 8:

  • Tap Profile Downloaded.

Step 9:

  •  Tap Install.

  • Enter your passcode.

Step 10:

  • Tap Install.

  • Tap Install.

  • Tap the check mark.

Step 11:

  • Tap the Back arrow.
  • Return to your Home Screen.

Step 12:

  • Return to your Wi-Fi Settings.
  • Tap eduroam to connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi.

  • Successfully connected

Step 13:

  • Return to the Home Screen.
  • You have successfully installed the eduroam profile! 👍🏼
