If you believe your Bates password may have been compromised, or if it’s simply time for a reset, this article will guide you through the steps to change your password using RapidID. The process takes just a few minutes, and you'll need your Bates credentials and a device for Duo Authentication. If you need assistance at any point, the IT Service Desk is available to help.

Step 1:
- Sign in to RapidID (https://login.bates.edu).
- At the Bates Single Sign-On login prompt, type in your Bates Network Username (Do Not Include the "@bates.edu").
- Click on the Go button.

Step 2:
- Type in your Bates Network Password.
- Click on the Go button.

Step 3:
- If prompted, complete the Duo Authentication process.

Once you have successfully signed in, you will be presented with your RapidID Dashboard.

Step 4:
- From the RapidID Dashboard, click on your Profile Icon.
- From the drop-down menu, click on Change Password.

Step 5A: (Before July 1, 2025)
- Type in your Current Password.
- Create your New Password.
- Remember to Review the Password rules.
- Click on the Save button.

Step 5B: (After July 1, 2025)
- Type in your Current Password.
- Create your New Password.
- Your new password must be between 18 - 255 characters long.
- Consider using a passphrase.
- Click on the Save button.

Step 6:
- Don't Forget to Logout!
- From the RapidID Dashboard, click on your Profile Icon.
- From the drop-down menu, click on Logout.
