How do I switch Gmail Accounts?

When attempting to access a Google Workspace File or Document, you receive a permission error. This error is caused when the Google Workspace File or Document you are attempting to access is from a non-@bates.edu account. This can occur if you signed in to your personal Gmail account, your Bates Gmail account, and you have not signed out of your personal Gmail account. 


Step 1:

  • Sign out of your Bates Gmail account.
  • You must completely sign out of your Bates Gmail account. Closing the web browser tab or window will not properly sign you out.


Step 2:

  • Sign out of your Personal Gmail account.
  • You must completely sign out of your Personal Gmail account. Closing the web browser tab or window will not properly sign you out.

Step 3:

Sign in to your Bates Gmail account.


Step 4:

Access the Google Workspace File or Document you were previously attempting to access.
