Wolfram Mathematica

Mathematica has defined the state of the art in technical computing - and provides the principal computation environment for millions of innovators, educators, students, and others around the world.

Widely admired for both its technical prowess and elegant ease of use, Mathematica provides a single integrated, continually expanding system that covers the breadth and depth of technical computing - and is seamlessly available in the cloud through any web browser, as well as natively on all modern desktop systems.

Eligibility:

  • Faculty, Staff, and Students are eligible to use products on-campus or on a personal computer.
  • The license agreement supports the use of products in instruction and academic research.
  • Your license is renewed annually and is only available to active Students, Faculty, and Staff.

Mathematica Desktop:


Licensing Access (Single Machine):

  • Go to https://www.wolfram.com/siteinfo
  • Type in your Bates Email Address (username@bates.edu) and click Continue.
  • Click the link to download Mathematica for your operating system.
  • Sign in with your Bates Username and Password when prompted to activate your account.

    • Note: The first time you sign in using your Bates Username and Password, you will be prompted to link it to your Wolfram ID.

Reactivating Mathematica Versions 12.3.1 and Earlier:

  • To upgrade to version 13.1 or newer version, follow the instructions above (Licensing Access (Single Machine)).
  • If you would like to stay at your current version of Mathematica:
    • Go to https://user.wolfram.com/ 
    • Type in your Bates Email Address and select the option to sign in using your Bates Username and Password.
      • Note: The first time you sign in using your Bates Username and Password, you will be prompted to link it to your Wolfram ID.
    • Select your Mathematica for Sites (Legacy) product, and click the Request Extension button next to your Activation Key. 
    • An email will be sent to you. Click on the link provided to validate.
      • Check your Spam or Junk folder if you do not see the email.
    • Restart Mathematica, and your license will automatically be extended.
