Transferring your Bates Gmail, Contacts, and Docs to a Personal Gmail Account

Google provides an easy-to-use utility to assist you with moving your Bates Google Workspace Account (Gmail and Docs) to a Personal Google Workspace Account. 

• Transfer your Content
  • The Transfer your Content option is available within the Date & Privacy section in the Manage your Google Account settings for your Bates Google Workspace Account. You will want to look for the Transfer your content section to start your transfer.

  • The Transfer your Content option is an easy-to-use, three-step process for moving your email and docs to another Gmail account.

• Exporting/Importing your Contacts
  • If you have Contacts in your Bates Google Workspace Account, the Transfer your Content option will not include those. To transfer your contacts, you will need to perform an export from your Bates Google Workspace Account to create a CSV file. Once the file has been created, you will then import the CSV file into your Personal Google Workspace Account.
    • Creating a CSV file from your Contacts
      • From your Bates Google Workspace Account, access your contacts.
      • Select a single, multiple, or all contacts to export.
      • In the left margin, click on Export.
      • Select Google CSV, from under the Export as section.
      • Click Export.
    • Importing your Contacts
      • From your Personal Google Workspace Account, access your contacts.
      • Click Import from the left margin.
      • Click the Select File button.
      • Choose your file.
      • Click Import.

Additional Recommendations:

• Update your email address in services and websites such as iTunes, Facebook, other social media sites, shopping websites such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, and other websites or services that utilize your Bates email address.
• Notify friends and family of your new email address.
• Contact businesses that communicate with you by email, such as doctor's offices and utility companies, to update your email address.
• Consider changing your username (sign-in's/login's) that utilizes your Bates email address to your new email address.
• Review your online accounts to update your password or account recovery email address to your new email address.
• Once your Bates Google Workspace account is deleted, you may experience significant problems if you need to reset an account password if the recovery email address is your Bates email address.
